Hillary Waldman - Biography

Hillary Waldman - Abstract 07

Artist Statement

"I came late to art as a career. I consulted Judy Cassab who started me off copying a section of a Dobell drawing. She also gave me a list of palette colours and some of her old brushes and suggested I start drawing and painting classes.  I was obsessively hooked”

Hillary has completed a 4 year art course at Charlie Sheard's studio school, learning traditional artistic techniques.

As well as 3 post graduate drawing courses.

She now works mostly from the Eastern Suburbs and on Scotland Island where she is inspired by the beautiful Pittwater environment.

Her current works on paper are abstract drawings. A series of twelve works that have all been developed from one visual influence.

The pictures are made using different papers and mixed media including charcoal, graphite, conte and pastels.
