Olivier Rasir- Biography

Olivier Rasir was born in Belgium in 1973. He moved to Australia in 1995 where he started painting in 2004.

Rasir uses his materials with an insightful ability having developed a distinctive technique of abstract painting. Emotion is transformed into Rasir’s gesturally charged compositions which range from subtle, fluid harmonies through to refreshingly vibrant strengths. He builds his canvases through multiple layering of colour and texture, which he gradually pares back to reveal a hidden velocity from within. He uses linear rhythms to reflect the urban mechanisms of Sydney life captured in full flight.

Summer Scape was painted to celebrate  the change of seasons. Achieved by painting with mixed media including oil paint, charcoal, ink and acrylic..

Olivier wanted to capture the energy that the landscape can reveal. He invites the viewer on a journey when they observe the subtle interchange of composition and  colour. To engage with the landscape yet look for the secrets that lie within the painting.

Olivier hopes that it is a never ending journey of discovery.

Rasir has been collected by corporate and private collections in Sydney, Brisbane and Belgium and has provided a number of works for the Marriott hotel group.

"We see a lot of contemporary art, and as a well known art critic for the Australian said on a number of occasions " the more art you see the more you are likely to choose good from mediocre ". Since buying a large painting from Olivier Rasir we have seen a number of his other works and believe that the excellent technique and quality of them is maintained throughout."
