                        Biography/General

A time of change, a passage of transition from one chapter to the next, reflections on the past and acceptance of new beginnings – these are main influences behind the current body of work by Nicole Grech.

Her series of unique one-off bronze sculpture embody these sentiments. The Artist, having undergone a period of great change in her own personal life – is inspired by her reflections on the past and the excitement generated by the possibilities of the future.

She still works with her renowned and mysterious figure of the Minotuar which provides a strong and constant connection for the artist with the past – Greek traditions of art and sculpture and her fascination with mythology and the references it draws to life’s great mysteries. She has introduced new symbols in this current series – such as the birds which symbolize dreams, hopes and the future. The tree is symbolic of new life – supporting dreams and aspirations.

Nicole’s works have always been centered around relationships and the roller coaster journey of life – often creating sculptures depicting two or more figures engaged in some dialogue or rapport. In this series it is more about a silent reflection on relationships – past and present and those to come – a sense of being along yet depicting a sense of contentment in this aloneness and the beginning of a new chapter.
