Biography
"The purpose of my painting is to uplift the spirit. I
don't produce heavy, morbid work that takes the viewer down. I am conscious not
to use the canvas as something to criticise or whinge about life. I don't want
to use art as an aggressive, political, social or intellectual platform. I have
always admired John Lennon's work. He was gutsy and able to say something, even
to provoke, without aggression. He wanted love and peace restored on the planet
and was prepared to put himself on the line. I admire what he did for humanity
on the real scale - without resorting to intellectualism or superiority. He was
a huge spirit, with a massive purpose aimed at changing the world for the
people. Rather than use art as a political voice, it is really important to me
that the viewers' lives are enhanced, their feelings are ignited and that
something is seen that brings other parts of them alive."
